Support Worker (Learning Disabilities)

Are you a passionate and motivated support worker, with experience supporting service users with Learning Disabilities currently looking for your next role based in the Trowbridge, Wiltshire area?

I am currently recruiting on the behalf of a national care provider, with an excellent name in the industry, who are looking for compassionate individuals to join their charity, supporting their service users to lead the life they choose and fulfil their potential.

If you are driven by delivering a high-quality care and support service and ensuring that the service users receive the best standard of care possible and want to work with a company that always puts their service users first, then this is the role for you!

 

Overview:

  • Salary – £20,787 £45 (Per Sleep-In)
  • Hours of Work – Full Time Permanent Position
  • Shifts – 39 Hours Per Week, working a combination of long and short days followed with sleep-ins
  • Area – Trowbridge, Wiltshire

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the service users receive a high-quality support service, through delivering tailored care which caters to the individual needs of each of the service users.
  • Establish effective and constructive relationships with the service users and enduring that they are always treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
  • Meeting the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of the service users.
  • Working collaboratively with all levels of the support delivery team to ensure a fluid and innovative approach to the care service is always implemented.
  • Develop and grow a supportive environment for the service users, helping them to meet their full potential and achieve their aspirations.
  • Assisting with the practical duties associated with the support service such as cleaning the service area to keep it clean and tidy and helping with cooking.
  • Helping to plan and participate in day trips, shopping days, visiting social and leisure clubs, trips to the beach and so much more!
  • Continually maintaining clear, accurate and up to date records of the service users you support, and regularly reviewing your care approach to ensure it achieves the best outcomes possible.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to the care plans and care delivery plans of the service users and liaising with the management team with any changes / developments in the service users.

 

Skills:

  • This role will require a genuine interest and passion for care work, and an individual who prides themselves on the support service they provide to the service users.
  • You will be working closely with all members of the care delivery team and as such will require someone who is a team player and has a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills are imperative for the successful candidate.
  • Although not essential an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care would be beneficial to your application, if you do not hold this, you will require a willingness to complete upon appointment.
  • You should either reside in or be willing to travel to the Trowbridge, Wiltshire area.
  • My client has a great and supportive team however there can be times when the role can be very challenging and so resilience is an essential skill.
  • A UK Driver’s License is not essential however would benefit your application should you hold one.
  • You will be using computer systems in your daily duties so basic computer skills will be extremely beneficial to your success in the role.

Are you an experienced Team Coordinator with experience of running a team of support workers supporting service users with Learning Disabilities?

If that describes you, I am currently recruiting for a caring and compassionate Team Coordinator to join my friendly and passionate client, based in the Trowbridge, Wiltshire area, supporting service users with Learning Disabilities.

My client is looking for an individual that will lead by example, promoting best practices and ensuring a high-quality person-centred approach to care is always applied. In return they will invest in your professional growth and development, through means of paid training, exciting progression opportunities and funding towards completion of NVQ’s.

The successful candidate will have experience of leading a team and will be passionate about care always ensuring that the service users are at the forefront of everything you do in your professional life.

 

Overview:

  • Salary – £25,257 p.a.
  • Hours of Work – Full Time Permanent Position
  • Shifts – 39 Hours Per Week, this role is shift work meaning that it can include days, nights, evenings, and early mornings.
  • Area – Trowbridge, Wiltshire

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leading by example promoting best practices and ensuring a high-quality person-centred approach to care is always applied.
  • Encourage effective communication throughout the entire care teams of the services you support, with an open and honest approach to allow for any issues to be resolved quickly and to ensure that the whole team have a full picture of what is occurring within the service.
  • Create and enforce staff rotas as per pre-set daily staffing level requirements in a timely effective and fair process, ensuring that staff training, and key skills are considered against requirements.
  • Promoting a caring and supportive environment for the service users ensuring that they are always at the forefront of the team’s minds and that they all receive a bespoke person-centred care approach in accordance with their care plans.
  • Work with the management team to onboard and train any new employees, being able to take lead in explaining new team members duties and monitoring that they are fulfilling duties required.
  • Creating individual care plans for the service users and ensuring that they are kept up to date with any changes / developments.
  • Liaising with external healthcare professionals such as Doctors, Specialists, etc.

 

Skills:

  • Either hold or be willing to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (Adults).
  • It is essential that you hold a full UK driver’s license.
  • Have experience of working in a team coordinator / equivalent role within the health and social care industry.
  • You will have a strong record of achievement and a secure knowledge of the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must, you will be interacting with people every day – whether it be service users, staff members of senior management, effective communication is vital for success.
  • Aptitude to ensure that at all times the service fits into the framework of both internal and external policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of relevant Data Protection, GDPR, CQC policies, Legal and Local governing rules and requirements within the health and social care industry.
  • It is vital that you have an unbiased approach to your work and are a compassionate individual as you will be the first port of call for the staff within the services you support.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills are essential as you will be using them daily whether it be creating, rotas, care plans, days out and more!
  • You must have experience of supervising and leading a team.
