Support Worker (Mental Health)

If that sounds like you, I am currently recruiting on the behalf of a national mental healthcare provider who is looking for compassionate and motivated individuals to join their charismatic and friendly team based in the Littlehampton, West Sussex area on night shifts.

Overview

  • Salary – £22,022 Per Annum (£11 p/h)
  • Hours of Work – Full Time Permanent Position (38.5 Hrs Per Week)
  • Shifts – Rotating Shift Pattern (Week One – 4 Shifts, Week Two – 3 Shifts) / Starting 07:45PM (12 Hours Per Shift)
  • Area – Littlehampton, West Sussex

 

Responsibilities

  • Promoting a developmental and supportive environment for the service users to reach their potential through utilising your patience and compassion.
  • Monitoring the service users’ condition and mental state, ensuring that accurate records are kept and that any changes are reported to the senior team.
  • Communicating with the service users’ family members, ensuring they remain updated and aware of their relative’s condition.
  • Supporting the service users in the engagement of daily living activities.
  • Assisting with light housekeeping duties to keep the care provision clean and presentable as well as helping at mealtimes with cooking / ensuring the service users are sufficiently fed.
  • Taking responsibility for managing the medication of the service users you are supporting and prompting medication at set times and dosages.
  • Operating in a supportive role, being available to talk through any concerns or worries the service users may be experiencing then reassuring and comforting them as well as reporting any severe concerns to the management team.
  • Safeguarding the service users, ensuring that the service users feel they are in a safe and comfortable place.
  • Always acting as an advocate for the service users, ensuring that they are aware and feel they have a voice and an input in their care.

 

Skills

  • To be successful you will need to have a genuine interest and passion for working within the health and social care industry, being someone who prides themselves on the care and support service you are providing, always striving for continuous improvement in your approach.
  • Being a team player is a must! Although there will be times that you may be working alone you will be a part of a larger care and support team made up of Support Workers, Senior Support Workers, RMNs and members of the Management team therefore it is essential that you are a team player who works with a collaborative approach.
  • You should either reside in or be able to travel to the Littlehampton, West Sussex area – Although a driving license would be beneficial, it is non-essential.
  • Holding an NVQ Level 2 (Or equivalent qualification) in Health and Social Care would benefit your application although is non-essential, if you do not hold this you will require a willingness to complete it upon appointment.
  • The successful candidate will require excellent English skills (both written and verbal), as you will be using these every day! Whether you are interacting with families, writing care notes, updating internal systems, or speaking with other healthcare professionals and more, these skills are imperative for long term success in the role.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong backing within the mental health sector, based in the Littlehampton, West Sussex area. The successful candidate with either hold a RGN or RMN qualification and have a current and valid NMC Nursing Pin with a secure knowledge of the residential mental health sector.

Our client, who is a highly regarded national mental healthcare provider with an excellent name in the industry, is looking for candidates passionate about providing the highest standards of care, supporting the care provisions’ service users with a therapeutic and rehabilitative approach.

  • Salary – £41,990 Per Annum
  • Hours of Work – Full Time Permanent Position (42.5hrs Per Week)
  • Shifts – 07:45AM to 20:00PM / Alternating Shift Pattern – Week 1, 4 Shifts (Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun) / Week 2, 3 Shifts (Wed, Thurs, Fri)
  • Location – Littlehampton, West Sussex

 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, assessing, and evaluating the service users’ support needs, care plans and risk assessments at regular intervals to ensure that the best standard of care is always being provided and is proportional to the required care requirements.
  • Attending and actively participating in multi-disciplinary team meetings with other members of the care delivery and care management teams.
  • Play an active role in arranging and carrying out one to one therapeutic session’s, with the service users.
  • Remain updated on new clinical and nursing standards and implementing any changes into your daily practice.
  • Administering medication, ensuring records are kept and correct dosages only ever administered.
  • Leading the clinical care of the service users, working in collaboration with all levels of the care and support teams.
  • Ensuring accurate records are kept on the service users, care provided and any change in needs.

 

Skills:

  • It is essential that you hold a current nursing registration with the NMC, preferably as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) however RGN’s with strong experience and knowledge of mental health will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Previous working experience within a residential mental healthcare provision.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills will be vital to your success in this position as you will be responsible for planning the care delivery and monitoring the delivery.
  • You will require strong communication skills both written and verbal – the position will require clinical notes, updating records, liaising with other healthcare professionals and the rest of the services care delivery and management teams.
  • Either reside within or be able to travel to the Littlehampton, West Sussex area for the above shift times.
  • A responsible and caring attitude with a passion for the care service you provide is essential.
