Registered Service Manager – Support living (6–12-month fixed term contract)

To provide, manage and co-ordinate support for people that is based on their individual needs, desires, and aspirations. To be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and effective running of services in compliance with the wishes of the individuals the supports to live independently, the contractual obligations to the purchasing agencies, and legislative, statutory and organisation requirements.

To provide support to people in a way that is respectful, promotes independence and enables the individuals you support to realise their own potential. Effective delegation of duties to deputy service manager, team leaders, senior support workers and support workers as applicable. To promote good practice at all times, act as an effective and positive role model at my client service at Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

To support individuals in accessing the community, in their own homes or in any setting their needs and choices may require. Registered Service Managers may work alone with the people they support or as part of a team. Managers may provide support to individuals with a variety of different specialist needs and conditions which may include learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, mental health conditions, and other needs.

Overview

  • Salary – £33 715 per annum (6-12-month fixed term contract)
  • Hours of Work – Full Time Permanent Position
  • Shifts – Rolling rota of 2 in/4 off (sleep-ins also required paid at £45)
  • Area – Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Key Duties of Registered Service Manager – Support living 

  • Supporting people with autism, learning disabilities, and challenging behaviour in all aspects of daily living.
  • Deliver a high level of quality support to service users, ensuring each service is safe, effective, caring, and always responsive to the service users’ needs
  • Manage and monitor staff of the services, ensuring effective utilisation of resources to enable the provision of good quality, safe and effective services.
  • To ensure that all statutory, regulatory and company Policy requirements are monitored, managed, and achieved.
  • To ensure that the assessment process of new customers is carried out promptly and effectively, by appropriate team members, ensuring the effective completion of their placement and transition and that the required liaison with commissioners, staff, and others is completed.
  • To participate in events, meetings etc., where the intention is to publicise the organisation, and to support the marketing of available services.
  • Encourage innovative practices and approaches throughout the organisation, working with senior management, and other managers to identify areas of diversification that may provide value to the organisation, and those who use our services.

Skills Required for Registered Service Manager – Support living 

  • Prior experience at management level (Preferably autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour)
  • You will need to have a NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care.
  • Strong staff management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of CQC regulations, health and social care legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and determination to achieve Outstanding and deliver the highest quality person centred care.
  • You will need to have excellent presentation and communications skills.

Responsibilities – Support Worker

  • Support new Team Leaders and care staff in the completion of induction programs, training, and competency assessment.
  • To provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment in which service users can feel secure and free from harm.
  • Establishing positive relationships with service users and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.
  • Helping service users gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.

  • It is essential that you are a team player as you will be working closely with all levels of the support team to provide the best care possible.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) as you will be responsible for accurate and frequent record keeping on the service users.
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2, additional qualifications related to care would be beneficial for your application.
  • Experience working with service users with mental health conditions and challenging behaviour is essential.

The successful candidate will work at their service location in the Huddersfield, West Yorkshire area on day shifts as part of their knowledgeable and friendly team that prides themselves on the support, they provide to the service users.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will act as the 1st line of enquiry for Support Workers that are on your shift, using your past experience and knowledge to guide more junior members of the team acting as a role model promoting best practices and providing the highest levels of care to the service users.

Responsibilities Senior Support Worker

  • Promoting a developmental and supportive environment for the service users to reach their potential through utilising your patience and compassion.

Skills Senior Support Worker

  • To be successful you will need to have a genuine interest and passion for working within the health and social care industry, being someone who prides themselves on the care and support service you are providing, always striving for continuous improvement in your approach.
  • Being a team player is a must! Although there will be times that you may be working alone you will be a part of a larger care and support team made up of Support Workers, Senior Support Workers, RMNs and members of the Management team therefore it is essential that you are a team player who works with a collaborative approach.
  • You should either reside in or be able to travel to the Bideford, North Devon area – Although a driving license would be beneficial, it is not crucial and so long as you can commute to the service area it is non-essential.
  • Holding an NVQ Level 3 (Or equivalent qualification) in Health and Social Care would benefit your application although is non-essential, if you do not hold this you will require a willingness to complete it upon appointment.
  • Previous experience of working in a Senior Support Worker position, preferably in the mental health sector however applicants from all sectors will be considered.
  • The successful candidate will require excellent English skills (both written and verbal), as you will be using these every day! Whether you are interacting with families, writing care notes, updating internal systems, or speaking with other healthcare professionals and more, these skills are imperative for long term success in the role.
