An exciting opportunity has become available for Assistant Service Managers to join our team at Blackfen, Greater London, overseeing 2-3 services within their patch.

 All of our clients live in either their own home or a family home so a driver will be required as Shropshire has poor public transport links between some of our services. The ASM role would be overseeing 2-3 services within their patch and we will be matching the right candidate with services commensurate to their skills/knowledge/ability as some of our services are for brain injuries focused and others are learning disabilities focused.

  • Salary – £24 254 per annum benefits
  • Hours of Work – 39 hours per week

Responsibilities of Assistant Service Manager:

  • Take ownership for continuing professional development for self and the team.
  • Work with your Service Manager to use management information to make sound business decisions to encourage a solution led culture.
  • Maintain a practical knowledge of policies and procedures and ensure appropriate usage.
  • Effectively recruit, develop, and manage employees in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Work with your Service Manager to reinforce a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as the Service Manager in their absence.
  • You will motivate and inspire your team to provide outstanding support through effective training, coaching and leadership by example.
  • Day to day support for the people we are supporting.

Skills of Assistant Service Manager:

  • Driver and access to vehicle essential
  • Experience supporting individuals who have learning disabilities, mental health needs and/or complex needs
  • Experience of supervising/managing a small to medium team within social care or be willing to be trained (including supervisions, probations, inductions)
  • Experienced with providing Person-Centred support and to be passionate about it.
  • To be able to support people with personal care
  • Ability to manage own time and able to work under pressure
  • Be flexible and be able to work shifts required

  • Salary – Support Worker salary starts at £19,110 per annum - £9.80 per hour.
  • Hours – 37.5 hours or part time hours available.
  • Shifts – Long Days and Permanent Nights available as well as additional payments for Sleep ins.
  • Area – Stockport, Greater Manchester.  

Responsibilities – Support Worker – Learning Disabilities

  • Support new Team Leaders and care staff in the completion of induction programs, training and competency assessment.
  • To provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which service users can feel secure and free from harm.
  • Establishing positive relationships with service users and always offering them unconditional and positive regard.
  • Helping service users gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
  • Ensuring that each person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
  • Attending to practical matters in relation to helping service users to cook, clean and personal care.
  • To act as a key worker or co-worker for the service user to ensure that their young care plans are up to date and that all their care needs are being met.
  • To provide a positive role model to be able to offer advice, guidance and assistance where appropriate.

Skills required – Support Worker – Learning Disabilities

  • Passion to help others.
  • Caring nature and willing to go the extra mile to support others.
  • A passion to learn and gain an understanding of emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties.
  • Basic IT skills and basic computer programmes such as word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Full driving licence desirable but not essential
  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards.
  • A commutable distance from Stockport Greater Manchester.

Home 1 is a 2 bedroom service
