Overview:
- Salary – £14,102.50 - £15,392.0021,010 per annum (pro rata)
- Hours of Work – 20 hrs per week

Key duties for Shift Manager:
- Do all in your power to protect our young adults from being abused by staff members, guests, or other students, and make sure that staff members abide by corporate policy and practise.
- Keep an eye on the team's performance and conduct to make sure they are adhering to the Aurora Values and putting policy and procedure into practise.
- Make sure that everyone on the team receives supervision and evaluations that are up to par, completed on time, and properly documented. This involves assisting in determining the training needs of teams or young people and ensuring those needs are satisfied.
- Manage team deployment and rostering effectively, as well as holiday authorization, to make sure that budgetary deficits are discovered and addressed within the house, unit, or school.
- Handle team absences, scheduling Back to Work Interviews and absence review meetings as needed in accordance with Company policies.
- Encourage equality while recognising the diversity of young adults and defending their rights. Respect young people's duties as adults and as employees and oppose any discriminatory behaviour.
- While providing direct care, be sure that your own standards and processes adhere to the legal requirements as outlined in policies and procedures.
- Make sure the team follows the right processes to assist the young people in their domestic and personal issues, allowing them to take care of as much as they can on their own, to foster independence.
Successful candidate qualities for Shift Manager:
- QCF Level 2 in Adult Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of management practice including principles of effective supervision and appraisal.
- Good knowledge of learning disabilities and/or special needs including recent developments.
- Good knowledge of recognised positive approach to working with challenging behaviours associated with learning difficulties.
- Knowledge of what equal opportunities and discrimination are and how it can be prevented.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and legislation.
- It is necessary to have at least a year of experience as a Senior Support Worker in a residential care setting, as well as management or team-supporting experience that involves a rota system.
- a track record of success dealing with children and/or adults who have special needs or learning difficulties.
- Expertise with organising activities that are suitable for young adults' needs and abilities and that show successful results.
- Person-cantered planning experience

Key Responsibilities of Support Worker:
- To assist in the direct care provision of all aspects of the service users assessed care needs.
- To participate in the basic nursing care of the service users under the supervision of trained staff e.g., bed bathing, pressure area, mouth care, and eye care.
- To assist with problems with mobility, including those of mobility aids, where appropriate.
- To help in the serving of meals and drinks, feeding those service users who are unable to feed themselves and ensuring that each resident receives the meal or diet that he/she has requested and is suitable for his/her needs.
- Report immediately to the team leader in any accident or untoward incident, which may occur to a resident or a member of staff.
- Assist in activities within the Home.
- To help to maintain a safe environment for staff, service users and visitors, through awareness of health and safety policies and by attending training as required.
- To attend appropriate training programmes/courses as available, which will further existing knowledge.
- To undertake any other duties as required, in order to keeping the healthcare setting running smoothly, as delegated by the trained nursing staff or Home Manager.
Duties of Support Worker:
- To attend and participate in staff meetings and attend all mandatory training when required
- To attend supervision and appraisals ensuring that you have prepared for these when required
- To attend any other training when a need has been identified
- To assist with domestic duties in the home including cooking cleaning and laundry when the need arises
- To communicate effectively with other staff, relatives and visitors including professional agencies regarding residents
- To be fully aware of the fire policy and the awareness of food hygiene regulations
- To be familiar with all current policies and procedures and understand your duty to comply and implement them when necessary
- To wear uniform provided with plain black trousers and flat sensible shoes at all times
- Ensure that you do not use a mobile telephone while on duty
- To ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties
- To keep all records of domestic work completed after each shift in the appropriate book
- Understand your duty to whistle blow if you witness bad practice or harm to a service user within the Home
- To promote and ensure the good reputation of the health care setting at all times
