Our client is a large provider who deliver care and support to adults with learning disabilities. Their head office is based in Hockley, however the role will involve remote working within the services located around Essex, so a full driving licence is essential for this role.

As a Service Support Manager will be required to support the service seniors to develop the skills and knowledge to enable them to run a safe and effective service , whilst meeting the needs of the service users with a person-centred approach. Enabling the services users to live an independent life whilst supporting lifestyle choices, daily living tasks and wellbeing.You will ensure all aspects of management of the company are met within the Health and Social Care Act and the requirements of CQC whilst working within the KLOE’s and the company’s compliance, together with all other relative legislative requirements.

Main duties will include but not limited to:

  • Monthly audits of the services required, action plans & compliance checks.
  • Spot checks / Compliance Checks on staff within the services.
  • Supporting the seniors to update Risk Assessments & Care Plans when required.
  • Attending service users’ reviews as required.
  • Attend monthly meetings within the services & monthly seniors’ meetings.
  • Carry out medication competencies with all Seniors.
  • Carry out regular supervisions and annual appraisals with seniors in line with company procedures and standards.
  • Meeting with the Registered Manager on a monthly basis for reports and action plans
  • Ensure each service meets Health & Safety and Infection Control regulations and guidance.
  • To ensure good quality working relationships are built and maintained between staff and the service users they are supporting.
  • To build and develop working relationships with families and external professionals.
  • Carry out investigations if required.
  • Having an understanding of the care needs of each service and ensure that the right staff skill mix is met for the needs of each service
  • To have an up-to-date service hours and staffs contracted hours list for all services and ensure it is kept updated.
  • Co-ordinate and check that all rotas for all services are completed and that they have the correct contracted hours and staff skill mix to meet the needs of the service users
  • To ensure that all service users have their 1-2-1 hours allocated on the Rota
  • Ensure that all rotas are planned 6 weeks in advance and that all rotas from the previous week are with the finance team on a Monday morning by 9am and that all changes from the rotas are reported.
  • Ensure rotas are added to house rota system by the Senior and that they are accurate and approved, also to check daily for any adjustments made and have an overview of any changes made.
  • To support all services with their Rota management where required to do so.
  • Manage staff sickness, return to work meetings and keep an accurate record of individual staff sickness following the company sickness and absence policy, taking appropriate actions where needed.
  • Managing long term sickness in line with the companies sickness and absence policy.
  • Manage maternity / paternity / adoption leave/ keeping in touch days
  • Managing all services’ annual leave in line with company policies and ensuring that all services are covered and that a Matrix is in place to manage staff annual leave efficiently.
  • Ensure that the in house rota system is updated and diary entries made to keep up to date records of staff actions.
  • Manage agency usage and ensure that all agency staff inductions are completed.
  • To complete weekly forms & compliance matrix with up-to-date information required by the senior management team to give an overview of the business.
  • Maintain accurate Matrix and filling systems.
  • To attend senior monthly meetings and management meetings when required to do so.
  • Be part of the On Call Rota (1 in every 4 weeks).

Knowledge & skills required:

  • 3 years recent and significant experience of working within a Health and Social Care Setting.
  • Good leadership & people skills.
  • Working in partnership with other professionals e.g., health, local authority, CQC.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • IT literate – Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience of auditing process and outcomes.
  • Have an understanding of Relevant legislation’s e.g., MCA, DOL’s, Safeguarding & Health & Safety Act.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or above – Health & Social Care.
  • Hold a Full Driving Licence due to travel required around Essex (Mileage reimbursed)
