Assistant Service Manager – Whitchurch

Are you an established and experienced assistant service manager with experience leading a team within a supported living environment, providing support to service users with learning disabilities and autism?

If that sounds like you, I am currently recruiting on the behalf of my well-established client who provide support throughout the region to service users with learning disabilities, autism and those with mental health needs through their multiple supported living projects.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the support that they provide, always striving for continual improvement of the service, collaborating with the registered manager to implement policies and ensure current regulations are adhered to with the service users always at the forefront of everything they do.

My client is a registered charity and strives to promote the service users’ independence through their person-centred approach, supporting their service users to live the life they choose.

Overview

  • Salary – Up to £24,000
  • Hours of Work – Full Time Permanent Position – 37.5hrs per week
  • Shifts – Flexible Shifts, Comprised of Short and Long Days
  • Area – Whitchurch, Shropshire

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of Support Workers, Senior Support Workers and Team Leaders, to provide exceptional levels of care and support to the service users.
  • Onboarding new starters and utilising your accrued knowledge / experience to mentor members of the team.
  • Supporting the service users to live the life they choose and promoting their independence in a person-centred approach.
  • Support the registered manager with the day to day running of the home, arranging shift cover, ensuring compliance with governing legislations and implementation of new regulations and best practices.
  • Participating in an on-call rota with other members of the management team.
  • Promote a caring and compassionate environment for staff members and service users alike, and ensuring effective communication is maintained throughout all levels of the care team.
  • Alongside the registered manager and other members of the senior care team, contribute to the care planning function, ensuring that all care plans are accurate and adhere to current regulations and best practices.

Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (essential).
  • Secure knowledge of the health and social care sector, with experience managing supported living services.
  • Experience supporting service users with learning disabilities, autism and individuals with mental health needs.
  • Hold a full UK driver’s license and have access to a car.
  • Excellent literary and communication skills.
  • Flexibility is a must, with the ability to think on your feet and adjust your approach on the go.
  • Care planning experience, writing care plans, conducting risk assessments and ensuring quality in support service delivery.
