Gap healthcare is currently working with a large health and social care provider who supports adults with physical and learning disabilities. We are looking to recruit temporary and permanent healthcare assistant in the East Harling area for full time and part time hours.

If successful, you will be working shifts and you will be expected to support the service users with accessing the community, personal care, independence skills development, support to identify and attend social and leisure activities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Activities Coordinator to help keep activities at the heart of home and ultimately making home a great place to live. From arranging regular trips, to flower arranging and crafting with our residents, this is a truly rewarding and varied role.

Overview:

  • Salary – £9.90 per hour
  • Hours of Work – 20hrs or 40hrs per week

The Key Responsibilities

  • Overall, your main objective will be to help develop a suitable programme of activities to meet our resident’s needs, working closely with other members of staff to ensure residents are fulfilled, stimulated, and maintain a healthy mind as well as a healthy body.
  • You will have a passion for the elderly, great communication skills, be full of enthusiasm, patience, and creativity. You will also have exceptional skills at building appropriate relationships and work well in a team.
  • Identify the needs of residents through reading and contributing to individual life stories and care plans.
  • Document participation, experience, and document activity information in residents' care plans.
  • Support activities, events, and outings, encouraging relatives and visitors to be involved.
  • Contribute to a balance of large group, small group, and individual activities.
  • Assist with in-house amenities and the provision of services from organisations in the home.
  • Assist with building links with the local community (e.g., schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries).
  • To be involved in supporting marketing & fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Energetic, Creative & Artistic
  • Have previous experience in organising daily activities & larger events for groups of people with a variety of needs and tastes.
  • We are looking for someone who is able to give the highest level of care and devotion to this demanding role.

Responsibilities

  • Developing healthy and balanced meals for the service users within the home, ensuring that they are balanced and nutritious.
  • Liaising with staff and residents to get feedback from meals or to develop upcoming menu items from request.
  • Being aware of the dietary, cultural, and religious backgrounds / requirements of the residents and ensuring that meals are catered around these stipulations.
  • Monitoring the kitchen stock, ensuring that any required orders are placed and controlling levels to ensure that all orders are placed before an item becomes out of stock.
  • Following the strict food safety guidelines on storing food, ensuring correct labels and storage guidelines are adhered to.
  • Maintaining a hygienic and clean environment within the kitchen.

 Skills Required

  • Implement and review standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen, in line with the Health and Safety Act, relevant Food Hygiene Acts and Company Procedures.
  • Pro-actively maintain all kitchen equipment as per manufactures guidelines and report all faults to the Manager.
  • Prepare food in accordance with menu specifications and monitor food cooking and
  • presentation standards in line with the Manager and Resident’s requests.
  • Ensure the Company’s stock and order system is followed on a weekly basis to avoid
  • over/under stocking of food items using the Company’s nominated suppliers only.
  • Ensure an adequate system is in place to check all food deliveries are correct and of good quality and that all deliveries are temperature probed, recorded, stored correctly and stock rotated.
  • To maintain a well-balanced nutritious diet taking into consideration special dietary needs and requirements as set out in Residents Care Plans.
  • To take Resident’s menu choices on a daily basis from the planned menus using the
  • correct Company’s menu choice form.
  • Conform to the Homes food hygiene policy and in particular, critical points/hazard analysis. Personal appearance must be of an acceptable level. Uniform provided must be worn, hair covered or tied back. Sensible enclosed non-slip shoes to be worn.
  • Implement the cleaning schedule for the kitchen and ensure it is adhered to as per the Food Safety Policy.
  • To maintain and check first aid equipment within the kitchen.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as and when requested.
  • In consultation with Senior Management and Home Manager, forward plan activities to ensure Residents are provided with an interesting and varied choice of special events in which they can join in and in turn enhance their quality of life.
  • Aid the care staff when they are assisting those residents who wish to take an active part in the preparation of meals.
  • To contribute and assist Senior Management in completion of the Company’s Quality Audit and to adhere to requirements requested in this procedure.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all company policies.
  • Such other duties as may be required.
